In the night of 21st of this month, at around 12 AM, Rangan, security at Chandira Choodeswarar Temple noticed in CCTV installed, a gang of thieves trying to break open the main gate of the temple using a karappaarai.
He, along with other security men in duty, took a wooden log, attacked a thief and caught hold one of the member of the gang while other five managed to escape.

Police inquiry with the arrested thieves, helped to arrest other men, all from north hindia.
Rangan, the security who was alert and nabbed one of the thief is native of Therpettai.
Officials appreciated his work. Sub Collector Senthil Rajan felicitated Rangan, by appreciating Rangan with a shawl in the presence of Vattaatchiyar Thiagarajan, Temple’s Executive Officer Rajarathinam, and other staffs of the temple.
