Popular Tamil actor's reaction for Swathi's murder draws flak

Veteran actor and theater personality Y.G.Mahendra has got into a soup for a post about the murder of Chennai techie Swathi, that he had shared in his Facebook page yesterday.

The post included objectionable words to refer the Dravidian parties. left parties, Dalit parties and women’s organisations for not reacting enough for the brutal broad daylight murder of Swathi just because she was a Brahmin. The post said that if the victim was a Dalit, all the above mentioned parties/organisations would have immediately reacted. The post also mentioned that the culprit was a Muslim named Bilal and he will not get the punishment he deserves because he belongs to the minority community.

This sparked a huge outrage among Social media users. While the Police themselves are yet to find the culprit, people wondered how YGM knew that he was a Muslim and his name was Bilal. This seems to be a reaction based on a that has started spreading since Monday. Secondly the senior actor had to face a severe criticisms and outburst for the choice of words in the post to refer Dravidian leaders (that includes both DMK and ADMK which have been ruling Tamil Nadu for the past five decades) and other parties. Some users also took offense for the “castiest and communal” angle of some remarks in the post.

Mahendra has further removed the post and also followed it up with a clarification and apology in his FB page which is given below:
